Heart Attack lyrics

Heart Attack lyrics

Puttin’ my defences up
‘Cause I don’t wanna fall in love
If I ever did that
I think I’d have a heart attack

Never put my love out on the line
Never said yes to the right guy
Never had trouble getting what I want
But when it comes to you, I’m never good enough
When I don’t care
I can play ‘em like a Ken doll
Won’t wash my hair
Then make 'em bounce like a basketball

But you make me wanna act like a girl
Paint my nails and wear high heels
Yea you, make me so nervous
That I just can’t hold your hand

You make me glow, but I cover up
Won’t let it show, so I’m
Puttin’ my defences up
Cause I don’t wanna fall in love
If I ever did that
I think I’d have a heart attack (x3)

Never break a sweat for the other guys
When you come around, I get paralyzed
And everytime I try to be myself
It comes out wrong like a cry for help
It’s just not fair
Pain’s more trouble than love is worth
I gasp for air
It feels so good, but you know it hurts

But you make me wanna act like a girl
Paint my nails and wear perfume
For you, make me so nervous
That I just can’t hold your hand

You make me glow, but I cover up
Won’t let it show, so I’m
Puttin’ my defences up
Cause I don’t wanna fall in love
If I ever did that
I think I’d have a heart attack (x3)

The feelings got lost in my lungs
They’re burning, I’d rather be numb
And there’s no one else to blame
So scared I take off and I run
I’m flying too close to the sun
And I burst into flames

You make me glow, but I cover up
Won’t let it show, so I’m
Puttin’ my defences up
‘Cause I don’t wanna fall in love
If I ever did that
I think I'd have a heart attack (x2)
I think I'd have a heart attack
I think I'd have a heart attack (x2)

Home garden

"Home garden" redirects here. For other uses, see Home garden (disambiguation).

Robert Hart's forest garden in Shropshire

Forest gardening is a low-maintenance sustainable plant-based food production and agroforestry system based on woodland ecosystems, incorporating fruit and nut trees, shrubs, herbs, vines and perennial vegetables which have yields directly useful to humans. Making use of companion planting, these can be intermixed to grow in a succession of layers, to build a woodland habitat.

Forest gardening is a prehistoric method of securing food in tropical areas. In the 1960s, Robert Hart adapted the principles and applied them to temperate climates.

History

Forest gardens are probably the world's oldest form of land use and most resilient agroecosystem. They originated in prehistoric times along jungle-clad river banks and in the wet foothills of monsoon regions. In the gradual process of families improving their immediate environment, useful tree and vine species were identified, protected and improved whilst undesirable species were eliminated. Eventually superior foreign species were selected and incorporated into the gardens.

Forest gardens are still common in the tropics and known by various names such as: home gardens in Kerala in South India, Nepal, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Tanzania; Kandyan forest gardens in Sri Lanka; huertos familiares, the "family orchards" of Mexico; and pekarangan, the gardens of "complete design", in Java. These are also called agroforests and, where the wood components are short statured, the term shrub garden is employed. Forest gardens have been shown to be a significant source of income and food security for local populations.

Robert Hart adapted forest gardening for the UK's temperate climate during the early 1960s. His theories were later developed by Martin Crawford from the Agroforestry Research Trust and various permaculturalists such as Graham Bell, Patrick Whitefield, Dave Jacke and Geoff Lawton.
In tropical climates

Forest gardens, or home gardens, are common in the tropics, using inter-cropping to cultivate trees, crops, and livestock on the same land. In Kerala in south India as well as in northeastern India, the home garden is the most common form of land use and is also found in Indonesia. One example combines coconut, black pepper, cocoa and pineapple. These gardens exemplify polyculture, and conserve much crop genetic diversity and heirloom plants that are not found in monocultures. Forest gardens have been loosely compared to the religious concept of the Garden of Eden.

Americas

The BBC's Unnatural Histories claimed that the Amazon rainforest, rather than being a pristine wilderness, has been shaped by man for at least 11,000 years through practices such as forest gardening and terra preta.[8] Since the 1970s, numerous geoglyphs have also been discovered on deforested land in the Amazon rainforest, furthering the evidence about Pre-Columbian civilizations
On the Yucatán Peninsula, much of the Maya food supply was grown in "orchard-gardens", known as pet kot.The system takes its name from the low wall of stones (pet meaning circular and kot wall of loose stones) that characteristically surrounds the gardens.

Africa

In many African countries, for example Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia and Tanzania, gardens are widespread in rural, periurban and urban areas and they play an essential role in establishing food security. Most well known are the Chaga or Chagga gardens on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. These are an excellent example of an agroforestry system. In many countries, women are the main actors in home gardening and food is mainly produced for subsistence. In North-Africa, oasis layered gardening with palm trees, fruit trees and vegetables is a traditional type of forest garden.

An A. Quincy Jones Mod Where Frank Capra Lived

An A. Quincy Jones Mod Where Frank Capra Lived:

A midcentury modern home built by famed architect A. Quincy Jones and inhabited by the late “It’s a Wonderful Life” director Frank Capra has returned to market in La Quinta, CA.

As the legend goes, the Academy Award winner took up residence in the A. Quincy Jones-designed home shortly after retiring from filmmaking in 1961. The storied property was a real estate Christmas tale of sorts last year, when it surfaced for $1.575 million last December. It was off the market earlier this year but has since relisted for the same price. The home last sold in 2004 for $900,000.

Built in 1960, the midcentury residence is characteristic of Jones’ modern touch: Floor-to-ceiling walls of glass bridge indoor-outdoor living spaces, while 14-foot beamed ceilings extend outside the home to give the roof a grooved appearance.

Inside, the 4,221-square-foot house offers four bedrooms and five bathrooms, with amenities ranging from a remodeled gourmet kitchen to a stone-lined living room with a fireplace and a sunken wet bar. Last but certainly not least, a private patio and pool look out over the 10th hole of the La Quinta Country Club, with rows of palms and the Santa Rosa Mountains dotting the horizon.

Besides the timeless angelic classic that starred James Stewart and Donna Reed, Capra established himself as America’s preeminent filmmaker during the Great Depression with a trio of Oscars for Best Director. His 1935 movie “It Happened One Night” became the first film to sweep the five major Academy Awards categories.

visual vibrations

We recently caught up with the artistic director of Yves Delorme, Evelyne Julienne, to find out the inspiration behind the new collections.

The first collection, Kacho-Ga, she told us, came from a desire to capture the 'image and dramatisation' of the bird and the flower, in the style of Japanese Ukiyo-e painters. The gesture of the paintbrush has been replaced by the art of the needle.

The second collection, Losange, was built around a desire to organise materials, by means of a play on the construction of geometric shapes, and by 'exploiting the rhythms of different visual vibrations'. The colour palette evokes mineral matter.
